“Prayer is where the action is.” - John Wesley
Day 1: “Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, but a good word makes it glad.”(Proverbs 12:25) Anxiety is commonplace today, but a kind word will lift the spirits and bring a feeling of wellbeing. Pray that ADVANCE staff and volunteers will in their daily person-centred work give a helping hand and a kind word of encouragement to those the Lord brings into their care.
Day 2. Please pray for the various ADVANCE events planned for February 2016 to transform lives through Christian compassion for body and soul. Pray for our staff and volunteers in Port Harcourt, Aba, Ogugu and Uyo as they carry out their various local HIV Prevention activities.
‘Seek God’s will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil. Then you will have healing for your body and strength for your bones.’ - PROVERBS 3:6-8
Day 3. Please pray for our Community Coordinators in Benue, Kaduna and Kano that they would experience a successful and enjoyable year as they scale up their activities. Pray the churches in their areas will open their hearts to the opportunities to freely donate towards their work.
Day 4. Pray for the over 22 ADVANCE Community Action Teams supporting local people with referrals, child abuse, marriage, livelihood and healthcare issues through local groups and congregations. They provide information, counselling, advice, act as ‘signposts’ to various support services and bring Christian compassion into families and the community.
Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. - Ephesians 6:18
day 5. Give thanks for the ADVANCE work that our pioneers, Billy and Linda Abwa, have done over the last 15 years; pray that funding will be found to continue the work of ADVANCE in 2016 and beyond and that the fundraising of the various partners and teams in UK and Nigeria will be successful.
Day 6. Pray for the on-going work at the Donegore Centre in Ogugu and for Elder Reuben Agob, Becky Asabe Nyam, Nwosu Chinonyerem, and Innocent Abutu who manage the programmes. Pray that they continue to make every efforts to be diligent in God's ways for the task entrusted to them.
Day 7. Pray for Christians in Nigeria who are blessed with material possessions and influence that they will “Open their mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.” (Proverbs 31: 9) Ask the Lord to help them help and encourage those that are poor and needy need our help and encouragement and not judgement them.

Day 8. Ask God to strengthen and bless missionaries and workers with Mission Africa especially those working in difficult places in Africa. Pray that their minds will be filled with things that are good, praiseworthy, noble, true, right, pure, lovely and honourable. (Phil 4:8) as they serve people in their stations.
Day 9. Give thanks to the Lord for the United Evangelical Church and other churches in Nigeria proclaiming God’s truth and demonstrating His compassion through national and local initiatives that serve individuals and families - children, youth, women and men. Pray for the church leadership as they consider ways to be effective agents of change in the society.
